What is Meximas?
For several years, Calvary Chapel Dallas/Plano has had the opportunity to love on the residents of Pan de Vida Casa Hogar in Mexico by sending Christmas gifts to them. Residents' needs and reasonable wishes are listed on cards so that they can be "adopted" for Meximas by the congregation. We typically leave the day after Christmas and return on New Years Day. But, this year is a little different, as we will soon explain.
What is Pan de Vida?
Pan de Vida is a shelter for women and children born of a calling upon Esther Tijerina. Esther moved to Matamoros in 1995 and God soon provided the current site in Ejido Sandoval, which is near Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico across the border from Brownsville, Texas, USA.
What is Different This Year?
For years, this ministry was led by Pastor Merv White with not only gifts, but often maintenance projects that would provide for the physical needs of the residents for years to come. But, this past year, Merv and his family moved to another Cavlary Chapel in the area to pursue a calling to plant a Calvary in the Mesquite, Texas area. Without Merv, it seemed possible that Meximas may not happen, this year... but God had other plans. God laid it on several peoples hearts to go visit the residents of Pan de Vida, this year. It was much later in the year than planning would normally start, but with some quick work and help from Merv, we've managed to get gift ideas for the residents and even some potential maintenance projects, at the same time. We're not sure what all God is doing, yet, but we want to do His will in His way.
Unbeknownst to us, at the time, Calvary Chapel Oklahoma City was also planning a trip to Pan de Vida at the same time. We have worked together, in the past, and now we're planning to work together on this trip. It's exciting to see God's plan unfold.
This year, with God making the trip possible, we are looking to Him to determine what we do and how we do it. The gifts are already being collected. But, there are people who are called to go, but can't come up with the cost that was required per person, in years past. So, we are presenting the basic costs of transporting and keeping servants in Mexico as well as the potential projects that have been identified. As God calls His people to be senders and provide for these costs, we will determine what He wants us to do. We are trusting God to call the right amount of senders and the right amount of goers to accomplish His will.
We have broken the costs into eight categories:
For each of the categories, some padding has been added to the anticipated expenses to avoid going over budget. Also, for each of the projects, a small amount has been added to reward resident children for diligent hard work helping with a project.
We would like senders to prayerfully consider which funds or projects God may be calling them to support. If a project does not get fully funded or if it is over-funded, then the funds may be reallocated to another project to get it fully funded. However, if a project is fully funded, then we plan to get that project accomplished with the goers that God is calling.
